FULL INDEPENDENT GUARDIANSHIP FOR TRAFFICKED OR UNACCOMPANIED CHILDREN
BUILDING A SYSTEM OF FULL INDEPENDENT GUARDIANSHIP
The guardian is considered to be an independent person who safeguards the child’s best interests and general well-being and, to this effect complements the limited legal capacity of the child. Specialist guardianship applies in the same way that a parent is a guardian and simularly as children services are for unaccompanied and trafficked children.
Working within the current legal system of care for children in England and Wales Love146 UK works to ensure the best interests, fundamental rights and durable solutions are delivered for all trafficked children and unaccompanied children in our care. As the UK (England and Cymru) official partner of the European Guardianship Network EGN we continue to build a system of true independent guardianship for trafficked and unaccompanied children from abroad and who live in the UK.
Love146 UK will work with and support the range of UK NGOs and legal guardianship organisations in the UK along with NGOs and legal guardianship entities across Europe to build a child centred England and Cymru system of Independent Guardianship.
Our mission is to deliver the legal change required to ensure the independent system of guardianship and that guardians are an afforded legal capacity in law.
